Thank you for considering me as your Therapist. My name is Alexander.
As a BACP Accredited trauma informed Counselling Psychotherapist I support both adults and children from all backgrounds and offer short-term and longer-term therapy.
You can expect a therapeutically nurturing, confidential, accepting and non-judgemental space for you to explore your unique and diverse experiences and feelings. I provide people in need of counselling support the space to enable constructive shifts and to facilitate change at a pace that works for you.
My training and professional focus is upon offering a Humanistic, Person-Centred approach. This means a significant emphasis is placed on the therapeutic relationship whereby you can feel supported and understood and, therefore, begin to communicate the issues that are impacting on you and your life, secure in the knowledge that you are being heard by an empathic, compassionate and experienced therapist.
My undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, both in fine art practice, means that I am able to offer creative ways of working should this be something that you feel would be helpful in your therapeutic journey; because feelings and experiences can be shared and processed in many different and subjective ways.
Working at the Pathways Families in Crisis Centre enabled me to provide counselling to a wide range of people who had experienced emotional, physical and sexual abuse.
I have also worked at The Market Place with a wonderfully diverse range of children and young people with different and complex presenting issues, providing longer-term, crisis and bereavement counselling.

I believe that each person is unique, even when facing similar challenges. The way we experience and process difficulties is deeply personal. My role as a counsellor is to support you in understanding, accepting, and working through your experiences to find solutions that feel right for you. I provide a genuine, non-judgmental space where you are met with unconditional positive regard as we explore past experiences and discover new ways to grow and heal.
Through active listening, I aim to understand how your feelings impact your daily life. Having personally navigated addiction and mental health challenges—including rejection, abandonment, co-dependency, emotional attachment, self-worth, and self-esteem issues—I recognise how these struggles can shape your journey. My goal is to help you regain clarity, confidence, and a sense of direction in your life.

Thank you for viewing my profile.
Every person who works with me will see that I care. You are investing money and energy into feeling better and you will see that I am invested in your wellbeing and will therefore not sit there like a "blank slate" all stoic and emotionless. The most important thing to me is that you are heard, that you feel you are coming into a safe and warm environment and that you are free to talk about whatever is on your mind, for as many weeks as you feel you need to. I currently work with all clients and have had experience in all areas of mental health but have a speciality in Person Centred and Compassion Focused Therapy. I believe that you are the expert in your own life. I have a lot of experience working with persons with chronic health conditions such as CFS/ME and working with people with ASD and disabilities. Life can be difficult at times, but you are not alone.

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, committed to providing high-quality therapy through a collaborative and introspective approach. My focus is on psychological growth, particularly self-awareness and relationships with yourself and others.
Together, we will explore how these dynamics shape your tolerance, understanding, and self-compassion in relation to your goals. Feeling secure and trusting in our work is essential, allowing you to navigate challenging emotions, gain insight, and create positive change.
I understand how hard it can be to take the first step into counselling. My aim is to co-create a supportive, creative, and confidential space where you can feel at ease, gain clarity in the present, and find a sense of purpose for the future.
Therapy is not something that happens to you—it’s an experience within yourself. No matter how big the challenge or how stuck you feel, feel free to contact me with any queries you may have.
I look forward to meeting you,
Graham. -

Hello, and Welcome.
My sessions are designed to help you feel better, and gain clarity. I'm a good listener, with a gentle and collaborative approach. You'll be in a safe and friendly space.
Are you worried? Do you feel overwhelmed, confused, stuck, or exhausted? I'll help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and find ways through.
The therapy and support modalities I use are good at strengthening your innate sense of calm and confidence. They help you think more freely, and do things differently. Systemic or Family Therapy is interested in relationships and focuses on resources and solutions. It's suitable for individuals, families and groups. Holistic Acupressure helps you relax and feel at home in your body. Both approaches are flexible and promote positive, sustainable change.
I obtained my qualifications as a Systemic/Family Therapist and Systemic Integrative Social Therapist abroad. I also further qualified in Creative Trauma Therapy. I'm registered in the UK as a Bodywork for Wellbeing Practitioner, offering Holistic Acupressure based on the principles, philosophy and techniques of Shiatsu.
My own struggles in life led me to where I'm now. I first did a degree in Environmental Sciences, but knew I wanted to engage practically with people. I qualified and worked as a Theatre Educator. And my focus gradually shifted from sociocultural settings to health and wellbeing.
If you feel you need support, please get in touch. You'll be met with kindness and compassion. We'll breathe and smile. Change is possible when you're not alone and in a good place. -

I'm a big fan of Scandinavian films and drama. I tried learning Norwegian but found that I prefer to just listen to and enjoy the sounds, while I understand almost nothing. I'm interested in languages, cultures, and diverse ways of living.

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor. I am trained in person centred therapy, with an interest in CBT and solution focused therapy. I am experienced in working with adult people of all ages. My interests are neurodiversity, chronic health conditions and stress, anxiety and depression.
I provide a safe and non judgemental and welcoming space, to talk through your worries and help you find a way forward at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Therapy is also an opportunity to learn some skills and techniques to help manage anxiety and is a chance to set some goals to work on.
I offer remote counselling via phone or video link. I am flexible and will always try to offer you a session at s time and day that is convenient for you, wherever possible. I have worked for charities, the NHS and agencies and I am experienced in working with people short term and longer term.

I am a qualified counsellor with a fantastic ability to make people feel comfortable. I am confident, calm and caring. I don't patronise, I don't assume and I am passionate about equality and celebrating uniqueness.
Over the past 3 years I have counselled adults and children as young as 4 years old. I’ve also worked as a teacher and in various roles within education for the past 16 years.
My own experience of grief, trauma and mental health problems helps me empathise with others. I also come from a poor background and was brought up by a strong single mother whom I am very proud of.
As a client, my experience of counselling has been truly transformative. As a counsellor, I will be honest and helpful in any way I can. I will aim to create a safe space for you to bring whatever you need and I am a strong believer in the benefits of the counselling process.

I love art and I’ve always been creative. A large portion of my life has been spent onstage and involved with performance – as a dancer, choreographer, actor, singer and writer. I think that performance techniques can be useful in so many areas of life and work.

I have always been deeply empathetic toward others, in part due to my awareness of my own privilege. This awareness has driven my personal, professional, and academic growth—not for its own sake, but to better understand how I can contribute to a more just and supportive society. While philosophy remains my greatest passion, I sought a more direct way to make a difference, leading me to a career in the care sector and psychotherapy.
Outside of my work, I have a strong interest in table top role-playing games (TTRPGs), where I take on the role of Game Master (GM). This involves creating immersive worlds, guiding narratives, and encouraging players to engage with different aspects of themselves. There is growing recognition of TTRPGs as a therapeutic tool, providing a safe space for exploration and self-expression.
Although I completed my philosophy degree some time ago, I remain an avid reader, using philosophical insights to inform my approach to psychotherapy.

I completed my counselling training while volunteering at The Market Place (Leeds) in 2012 and moved into a paid role upon qualifying. During that time, I had moved from a support worker role with St Anne's and began my own private practice through the Horsforth centre.
During this time I've been fortunate to work with a wide variety of clients across different backgrounds and cultures. I've worked across different ages as well as with individuals and couples. It's my belief that the counselling relationship itself is a very important component of successful counselling, that a client feels understood and that they can be open and share without fear of judgement. This feels particularly significant when working with marginalised groups that may experience discrimination for things like race or sexual orientation. This can also be true for those that are neuro-divergent or engaging with the criminal justice system. That is to say, that clients need to be met as individuals, with unique stories to share. As such, the way I work will change depending on the needs of the client, sometimes something more structured in terms of outcomes or goals can be helpful to establish a structure for sessions, but other times a more organic and open exploration of what the client brings is what proves to be more helpful.
I love helping clients reflect on their significant relationships and to think about the changes that they would like to see in their lives.

I am a trauma informed BACP Accredited Person-Centred, Integrative Counsellor and have over 23 years’ experience working with children, young-people and adults, including as a member of The Market Place (Leeds) team. I have worked with a wide range of diverse client groups from different backgrounds and have experience with many different issues.
There may be something specific you want to bring to counselling, or you may not know where to start but want to explore difficult feelings. I am here to work together with you with any issues you want to bring, and no issue is too big or small. I use creative materials in sessions if this is something you want to explore alongside talking therapy.
I will listen to you and offer an empathic, confidential non-judgemental space where you can process your feelings and thoughts in a safe environment at your own pace. When you are ready, I will help you to think about how you may implement any changes you wish to put in place if that is right for you.
I am experienced in supporting clients through bereavement, death, and dying and can offer person-centred counselling through any stage of the bereavement process. Counselling is a non-directive non-advice, giving space and may feel difficult at times, so if something doesn’t feel right or comfortable I will make every attempt to work through this together with you. I am committed to being alongside you during your support however challenging this becomes without being phased and I very much welcome honest feedback.

I have a particular interest in working with bereavement, death and dying. I am passionate about fairness and equality. I love reading and walking, not necessarily at the same time!
